WHO IS PORTIA N. WILLIAMS?

Portia N. Williams is your sister. She is a mentor to those in your community. She is a survivor. She is a leader and educator. Her goal in life is to use her personal experiences to educate and save others. Portia N Williams is 36 years of age born in Washington DC NW but moved all over the DMV area but an uptown girl for sure. At the age of 28, Portia went to prison for the first time frighten and not knowing what to expect. Although incarcerated Portia utilized her time wisely to complete many programs such as: Cosmetology program, Nail Tech program, Women’s Empowerment, Domestic Violence, and Financial Literacy Program. Upon being released from Maryland Correctional Institution for Women Portia completed the life skills and work release program. While incarcerated Portia didn’t know what her purpose was but being incarcerated Portia was pulled to the younger ladies by mentoring and advising them. After serving 2years 8 ½ months Portia was released October 31,2017 to her two children, family and friends. To continue what was started Portia was presented with the opportunity she had been waiting for. Portia was offered a job with the Credible Messenger Program with InnerCity CDC a contracted organization with the Department of Youth and Rehabilitation Services which is a mentor for at risk youth. After four years Portia landed another opportunity working at Life Deeds Inc. as a Violence Interrupter (VI) working with the young adolescents be prevent not only Gun Violence but Violence as a whole. As a Violence Interrupter Portia has been certified through Peace Academy DC with the correct tactics to help the youth. Portia has also landed an ambassador’s position with Negotiation Works which Portia was taught unique ways to negotiate life changes. Portia has also joined forces with The W.I.R.E DC as a Youth Outreach Specialist. Through The W.I.R.E Portia was able to become a certified Transformative Life Coach. Portia’s work is not finished Portia will be dropping her podcast “Neighborhood Sisters” summer of 2023. Which will be a platform for Domestic Violence survivors and victims can share their stories to help the next female to overcome her obstacles and much more!!!! Portia is also the process of starting her own organization “Society of a Divine Sisterhood” which will be an organization that will help youth ages 13-24 years of age that faces life challenges of abandonment, abuse, domestic violence, molestation, self-esteem, sex trafficking, and more. Portia is all about women sticking together. “When you educate a woman, you educate a nation” is her motto.
